Saray El Nil is a rare, original Dahabiya built in 1882 and restored in 2019. She is thirty-three meters long from stem to stern and six meters across keel. It is five
meters from the beam to the surface of the sun. As with all traditional dahabiyas, the Nile Sarai is two masters and also has a small sail at the stern.
She has an original iron hull built in Scotland in 1882 and a hardwood sundeck, quarterdeck and stern. The Nile Saray is towed by the tugboat Said, when the
.wind is low but sails against the current with the northerly wind Below the spacious wooden sundeck are six double en-suite cabins and a large
en-suite cabin with a private aft verandah. A large private library and a dining table that can accommodate fourteen guests. There is a captain’s cabin and a
.modern stainless steel galley All guest cabins are fully furnished with luxury linens and bedding. En suite bathrooms have showers, traditional bathtubs, mirrors, customized soaps,
shampoo, towels, etc. The interior construction is in keeping with the boat’s original heritage dating back to the late 19th century, as well as the furnishings,
artwork and decorations. (Including rooms covered in hand-painted panels) The wood and brass fittings have been restored to respect the boat’s heritage. The
.cabin windows are also original with glass and louvered shutters The sun deck is approximately twenty meters long and six meters wide and has
a variety of furnished areas including handcrafted rattan tables and 1920s style deck chairs. There is a bar area where guests can find refrigerators with cold
soft drinks and where the chef can serve buffets and snacks upon guests’ request. There is also a large dining table and seating for eight guests for fine
dining and morning breakfasts and lunches with the original buffet lantern.
There are traditional pendant lights in the canopy for dining and evening/night entertainment.
